2 June-"Considering the Significance of Sustainable Finance: Analysis of Green Bond Disclosure in Japan”

Kamakura Sustainability Institute (KSI) is hosting an online seminar "Considering the Significance of Sustainable Finance: Analysis of Green Bond Disclosure in Japan” on Wednesday, 22nd June 2022 at 8:00 pm JST.

The market of green, social, and transition bonds/loans and other forms of sustainable finance is on the rise worldwide, and Japan is no exception.

However, it is not always clear whether these bonds and loans are contributing to solving environmental and social issues such as climate change, or whether they are creating an impact that meets the Paris targets. At present, the monitoring functions are not sufficient in Japan, and greenwashing is a growing concern.

KSI published a report on the state of green bond disclosure in Japan, "Analysis and Recommendations on Green Bond Disclosures in Japan" in April 2022 with the aim of contributing to the sound development of the Japanese sustainable finance market from the civil society sector. In this event, with wonderful guest speakers, we discuss the findings of the report and the future of sustainable finance in Japan.
